Need some tweaking and sanding but functional-ish
These are cheap for sure. If you have a decent shop and you've built a few lowers - so you'll know when something is out of spec and how to fix it - then this is a bargain. If this is your first build, then for sure look elsewhere. So far, I've built a few of these (I bought 5) and every one has had problems. On the first, the trigger was too wide. Yup, too wide! I didn't realize that at first, since I had just painted my lower I figured the paint was too thick and I proceeded to sand away the nice Cerakote job. When I was digging into the metal and it still didn't fit I tried another lower and it wouldn't fit there either, so I tried a colt trigger and it fit perfectly. Sure enough, the Geaux Armory LPK trigger was too wide. A couple of minutes grinding it down fixed it, but what a pain.
I also had problems with two of their hammers. The J pin blocks the hammer pin so you can't get the hammer pin to slide in without using a tool to pull back the J pin. If you're experienced, this can be worked around if you have the tools handy. If you're new to this, you'd be hammering away at the hammer pin wondering why it's not going in further. I've built several dozen lowers and this was the first time it's happened to me. And the second time, too!
A minor quibble but the triggers are really gritty. At this price point, though, you should plan on having to buff the triggers - but it is still worth pointing out.
To the folks at Geaux Armory: go build two lowers using your LPKs and see for yourself if they are in-spec. My guess is that both will have problems, but at least one will.
